A criminal complaint obtained by Daily Voice charges Julio C. Guerrero Brito with vehicular homicide and manslaughter in the Route 80 crash that left Richard Bahamonte of Hillside dead at the scene in Teaneck on Feb. 24 around 3 a.m., as previously reported by Daily Voice.

The complaint says Guerrero Brito was going 103 mph in a 55 mph zone, and that further testing showed his blood alcohol level was 0.21%, which is more than twice the legal limit of 0.08%. He also had amphetamine and THC in his system.

Guerrero Brito lost control of the Honda in the eastbound lanes west of Exit 68, New Jersey State Police previously said. The vehicle then struck a concrete barrier and overturned onto its roof. State Police troopers and medics from Holy Name Medical Center tried to resuscitate both Bahamonte and Guerrero Brito.

The complaint charges Guerrero Brito with recklessly causing Bahamonte's death "under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life, specifically by operating his vehicle at an unsafe speed... and being under the influence of alcohol and drugs."

Records show that Guerrero Brito was jailed on Sept. 25 and released the following day by a judge.

A GoFundMe for Bahamonte's family says he's survived by his loving partner, Melba Garcia, and their two daughters, Angelina and Megan.
